Who Are We?
Boss Intelligence is a boutique accounting services firm headquartered in the heart of Port Stephens’ coastal jewel, Salamander Bay. Located a short drive north of Sydney, we serve clients all over Australia.
After operating in many forms for decades, we’ve recently taken the digital tools we developed in-house and turned them into a formal service offering. We named it Boss Intelligence.

Our Mission
Fintech products might be making financial services more accessible, but robo-advisors still only provide shallow analysis and insight.
Our mission is to create a space where deep commercial accounting experience can coexist with these tools to provide high quality advice to any business, regardless of size or location.
We already do this daily, serving a select client base ranging from startups and sole traders to established businesses. We also specialise in serving high-net-worth individuals with more complex advisory needs.
Our Story
Boss Intelligence was founded by owner John Colley. John started his accounting career in rural NSW before establishing his own practice in Sydney, giving him unique insight into the needs of both city and regional entrepreneurs.
John has always been an early adopter of digital accounting technology and was an advocate for increased use of it in practice long before cloud accounting existed.
In part, he did this through industry advocacy devoting 13 years to being an industry representative on CPA Australia’s public practice committee (two of which he served as chairman).
John also sat on liaison committees for the corporate regulator, ASIC, and represented practitioners during the formative years of what later became the accounting industry’s peak regional bodies, such as the IPA, CA ANZ and CPA Australia.
